DIN 6797 Key Features
The biggest feature of DIN 6797 washers is their special tooth structure, which is divided into two types: internal tooth (Internal Tooth) and external tooth (External Tooth):
Internal tooth washer:
● The teeth are located around the inner ring of the washer and are in direct contact with the nut or screw head.
● Applicable to scenarios with small contact area or deep threaded connection.
● Advantage: Better performance in situations where space is limited or hidden installation is required.
External tooth washer:
● The teeth are located around the outer ring of the washer and tightly engage with the installation surface.
● Applicable to scenarios with large surface installation, such as steel structures or mechanical equipment.
● Advantage: Provides higher anti-loosening performance and stronger grip of the teeth.
Function:
● The tooth structure can effectively embed into the contact surface, increase friction, and prevent rotational loosening, especially suitable for vibration and impact conditions.
Material Selection
DIN 6797 washers are made of different materials depending on the use environment and mechanical requirements:
Carbon steel
High strength, suitable for mechanical equipment and heavy industrial applications.
Usually heat treated to enhance hardness and wear resistance.
Stainless steel (such as A2 and A4 grades)
Excellent corrosion resistance, suitable for humid or chemically corrosive environments, such as marine engineering or food industry.
A4 stainless steel is particularly suitable for highly corrosive environments (such as salt spray environments).
Galvanized steel
Provides basic corrosion protection while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
Other materials
Customized copper, aluminum or alloy steel versions are available for scenarios with conductivity or special strength requirements.
DIN 6797 Surface Treatment of Washers
● Galvanizing: provides an anti-oxidation layer suitable for outdoor and general industrial use.
● Nickel plating: enhances surface hardness and improves appearance quality.
● Phosphating: used to further improve corrosion resistance and reduce friction.
● Oxidation blackening (black treatment): mainly used to improve surface wear resistance, commonly used in industrial equipment.
